Wind Turbine Power Grid Design on PSCAD

This project aims to enhance my learning and understanding on:

  • Wind turbine power grid design
  • PSCAD software

The learning note of PSCAD is summarized in another page.

This project models a grid connected wind turbine on PSCAD, it contains the description of how each component in the wind turbine is configured and designed. It contains:

  • wind source
  • wind turbine
  • governor
  • synchronous machine
  • power converter design
  • grid connection and sizing

The wind turbine design on PSCAD follows the below general grid connected wind turbine graph. One thing to mention is that the gear box is not considered in this project.

Future work:

  • the power grid simulation and studies such as harmonic study and etc.
